Academy appoints 2 new senior leaders

Throughout this last month, 6 year 10 students from Oasis Academy MediaCityUK have been preparing and getting ready for a new exciting opportunity. Oasis Academy MediaCityUK called out to all students announcing there would be 2 new senior positions opening up for the 1st Head Boy and Head Girl of this Academy.

Students had to go through the same process as our newly appointed Deputy Principal (Mr Hayes), to gain the position. After receiving all applications the Academy Leadership Team, other members of staff and students identified the 6 most outstanding applications and asked them to take part in a 2 day rigorous interview process at the Academy.

The process which consisted of interviews with students and staff along with a presentation to Academy Council went exceedingly well, with two students shining through. Daryl Tohill and Taylor McLaughlin, students from year 10, were chosen as the lucky pair to represent the Academy with this prestigious title! We were so impressed with all the applicants that we decided to create a Senior Academy Student leadership team, fronted by the newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl. The team will look at implementing changes for students and the Academy.

Daryl Tohill Head Boy Oasis Academy MediaCityUK - "I feel that the Head Boy role will be a process that our students will want to get involved in as the skills we will learn will help us and theirs in future life."

Taylor McLaughlin Head Girl Oasis Academy MediaCityUK - "I am proud to have been appointed Head Girl and now that I am a leader I can assist Students and help the Academy development."

David Hayes Deputy Principal Oasis Academy MediaCityUK - "As the newly appointed Deputy Principal at Oasis Academy MediaCityUK it has been a pleasure and a privilege to be involved in this exciting opportunity for our students. Leadership at all levels is extremely important and allows us to grow and develop. Seeing our students go through and rise to the occasion of the same process as I went through was fabulous."

Tracy Heap Pastoral Manager and founder of the Student Leadership programme Oasis Academy MediaCityUK - "I am so proud of our student leaders, they worked hard under pressure and scrutiny from the Oasis Community. However each of them held their own as they fully engaged in the process."

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
