Andy Davy, Project Director FM&T for BBC North said, “I am excited about the potential of the partnership with Oasis Academy MediaCityUK. There are some incredibly talented students and if we can inspire them and work with them closely, we are certain to see a wide range of opportunities open up for them in the media industry. In this way we will all benefit.”

Hazel Blears MP said “The new Academy, linked to the BBC, with fantastic facilities for learning will give Salford's young people the best chance of getting the jobs of the future. This is brilliant news for our City.”

The plans are that by the start of the September term in 2012, a building for 900 11-16 year old students and 250 sixth formers will be opened on the Salford Quays site.  The future is bright for the young people of the area along with their families and the whole local community.
