Oasis Community Learning is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Ottley-O’Connor as Principal of Oasis Academy MediaCityUK, following a rigorous and lengthy interview process. The appointment of Mr Ottley-O’Connor, who is currently the Head Teacher at Todmorden High School (11-18yrs), comes on the back of Dave Terry’s resignation which was announced in December last year.
Steve Chalke, Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning is confident Mr Ottley-O’Connor is the right person to lead the Academy: “Patrick is an exceptional Head Teacher with a proven track record and outstanding reputation in team building, raising attainment and achievement in a wide variety of schools. He has held his current position for three years and has guided the school from strength to strength, including a swift increase in attainment from when he was first appointed. Patrick has held senior leadership roles in schools for the last 10 years, and is enthusiastically committed to the Oasis ethos. In short, I am convinced that Patrick has the leadership skills, clarity of vision and educational strength that will enable him to continue shaping the growth and success of Oasis Academy MediaCityUK and the students in our care.”
Mr Ottley-O’Connor will take up his position at the Academy in September 2010, and is excited by the future opportunity available for all in the area. Mr Ottley-O’Connor said, “I can’t wait to begin working alongside the students and staff at the Academy, as well as all those in the local community. I truly believe that Oasis Academy MediaCityUK has massive positive potential, and as it already offers so much to all in the area, we can expect increasingly great things over the coming months and years. I hope to play my part in this growth and am looking forward to meeting the Academy community in the near future.”
Mr Ottley O’Connor’s appointment comes swiftly on the heels of a renewed commitment from Salford City Council to the Academy and to the delivery of an iconic new building planned to open on the prime site at Salford Quays in September 2012, alongside its partner the BBC. Both these developments bring exciting opportunities for the ongoing success of Oasis Academy MediaCityUK.
