Prime Minister Boris Johnson to address all school leavers

On Friday 10 July at 10am, the Prime Minister will be giving an address to all school leavers which will be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube.

Please tune in!

A recording of the address will be available to view on both platforms.

You will find communications from the colleges shared here, useful contacts and also other programmes running over the summer that you can access. 

We will also be running some taught sessions to help get ready for college.

Pre - Enrolment Learning for College

We understand that the transition from school to college can be daunting. But don’t worry! Colleges are planning activities and events that will help to prepare you and make that transition as smooth as possible.

One of those activities is pre-enrolment learning! Before you join the College in September, we want you to begin to develop your skills. Colleges have therefore produced a range of activities for you to complete over the summer.

We are continuing to offer support specific to Greater Manchester young people in the following ways: Get Started with Radio, Explore Virtual, Get Into Technology, Employability support, Enterprise, Development Awards.


GET STARTED With Radio In partnership Reform radio


Are you aged 16-30 and interested in a career in Radio? Reform Radio are working in partnership with The Prince’s Trust to deliver a week-long virtual course with the aim of designing, developing and producing a radio show by the end of the week. We have a handful of FULLY FUNDED places for you to complete your Google IT Support Certificate. This is a Qualification, created by Google, to support you getting your foot in the door and hired for a number of great IT Roles. It is a programme delivered online, and over a few short months you will be gain your qualification. 

Ø  Take part in exciting and fun tasks with the aim of preparing you for a radio show

Ø  Work with a team of professional DJs and artists

Ø  Meet new people, gain confidence, teamwork and communication skills

Ø  Create podcasts throughout the week and create a pre-recorded show to be aired on the final day

Ø  Gain a Bronze Arts Award Qualification

Ø  Receive three months support post programme to help you move onto further training, education or employment.

Explore Virtual

Virtual Explore online for 16-25 year olds. We use Microsoft Teams to host a safe learning environment to teach key and life skills in the comfort of your own space. Join us for four 1-hour-long sessions spread over two days of the  week and get involved in a different topic every session. This is a great opportunity to have fun and do something productive while you’re stuck at home! You need a computer or smartphone and access to the internet to take part in this course. 

Location: Online 

Dates: every Tuesday & Thursday for 4 weeks, starting on Tuesday 30th June

Get Into Technology with Amazon Web Services and generation uk

“For the 3rd time in Greater Manchester, the Prince’s Trust are proud to launch applications for Get Into Technology, partnering with Generation UK and Amazon Web Services. The programme aims to take you from a beginner to an AWS Certified Cloud Support Practitioner in 12 Weeks, with guaranteed interviews with Cloud Employers in Manchester and a 6 month commitment to help you gain your first job in the industry. You will learn Python, Linux, SQL and AWS services alongside improving your employability skills in this 3 month FREE bootcamp. You must be aged 18-29 to apply and no experience is necessary; just a passion for a career in tech!

 Location: Online initially, hoping to move to classroom learning in line with government guidance.

 Dates: Course begins on August 10th, with a taster day happening on July 2nd.

Employability & Progression Support (for 16-30 year olds)

Ø  Our skillful team of mentors are available to provide personalised 1-2-1 support and guidance around building employability skills and accessing the job market. The mentoring will take place over the phone or via email until normal face-to-face support can be offered again. Some useful resources to refer to may include:
