Summer school activities break down

The 2021 Treasure Island summer school was a real success! The year 6 students who attended had a fantastic time. Taking part in a range of activities from a cooking class, to sports sessions on a giant inflatable course! The activities were planned to build students confidence, team building and communication skills, as well as taking part in new subjects and activities. The summer school allowed students to meet key members of staff and other students to build friendships and reduce anxieties. All the students who attended the summer school said they felt more confident to start school in the September and that they had made new friends! They also felt as though they knew their way around the building and knew where to go one the first day. Overall the students thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities and said they would definitely recommend it to future students.

Here is a breakdown of the activates we provided and the costs:

·        5 hours of Maths Tuition with the Tutor Trust tutors to catch up on missed learning and for us to gage where the students were at- £900

·        Orienteering, Art and Cooking activities with the Oasis Staff. These activities took part over a number of days allowing students to learn new skills take part in fun activities whilst building confidence, resilience and friendships- £1580.50

·        Giant inflatable obstacle course- £700

·        Total Ninja trip at Trafford. This was a rewards trip for attending all week. Students had a two-hour pass to use the ninja warrior course. This was a extremely valuable experience for all the students as they built their resilience, fitness and friendships with the whole group - £760

·        Coaches to Total Ninja- £450

·        Hub team delivering and supervising activities and catering for all students everyday. The hub team are an integral part of our academy and supported the summer school for the two weeks. The members of the team delivered sessions on our Oasis 9 habits, supported the external company’s delivering their sessions and catered for all the children each day cooking delicious home cooked meals- £3775.44

·        Drama activities based around transition with the Tandem Theatre. The Tandem Theatre are an external company who delivered an excited and productive workshop around transition. This gave the students confidence to work and speak in a group and to have the opportunity to share and listen to any anxieties they or others may have and how they can be resolved -£350

·        Sporting activities and a with SCL. SCL are also an external company who supervised the obstacle course and also delivered a range of sporting activities promoting team building and communication skills order to work as a group -£420
