World Mental Health Day 10th October 2019

Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide.

Join us, on 10 October, in “40 seconds of action” to raise awareness of the scale of suicide around the world and the role that each of us can play to help prevent it.

·         improve awareness of the significance of suicide as a global  public health problem;

·         improve knowledge of what can be done to prevent suicide;

·         reduce the stigma associated with suicide;

·         let people who are struggling know that they are not alone.

Programme Challenger’s ‘Trapped’ campaign 7 - 14 October

Across Greater Manchester, we recognise that the criminal exploitation of children and vulnerable adults does not relate only to the distribution of drugs (referred to nationally as ‘County Lines’) but can include other forms of criminal activity including: violent offences, arson, the storing of firearms, holding money, sexual exploitation and the ‘cuckooing’ of victims – taking over the home of a vulnerable adult to use for criminal reasons.

The ‘Trapped’ campaign aims to raise awareness of all forms of criminal exploitation, in recognition that young people and vulnerable adults may feel ‘Trapped’ and need support to find a way out.
We also know that young people and vulnerable adults are not always moved to towns outside of Greater Manchester and that the exploitation can often take place within our boundaries.
The campaign will be used to raise awareness of criminal exploitation amongst key partners and to work with communities to ensure they feel confident about identifying and reporting their concerns.
We would be grateful for your support and would ask that you use the resources available in this pack to promote key messages through your channels and to support your local activity / campaign work.
