Last week, we hosted our second Interfaith Day, with the theme: "Sharing Our Story: Building Your Future." The day encouraged students to explore various faith traditions, engage in meaningful discussions, and reflect on how different worldviews—faith and non-faith—respond to life’s big questions, like tackling the climate crisis.
Here are some of the highlights from this inspiring day:
🔹 The Imam and The Rabbi
We were honored to welcome Imam Irfan Chishti MBE (Me and You Education) and Rabbi Warren Elf MBE (Faith Network). Together, they spoke to our Year 10 and 11 students about their journeys as religious leaders, the shared significance of Jerusalem, and how to confront issues like antisemitism and Islamophobia. Their message of unity and understanding resonated deeply with our students.
🔹 Equality and Diversity Workshop
Our Year 9 students participated in a powerful workshop delivered by their peers, supported by the incredible Be What You See organisation. This initiative, championed by our Equality and Diversity Ambassadors, empowered students to celebrate diversity and tackle inequality.
🔹 Islamophobia Assembly
Students in Years 7, 8, and 9 attended an online assembly focused on raising awareness about Islamophobia. This thought-provoking session encouraged reflection on the impact of prejudice and how we can foster inclusion in our communities.
🔹 Interfaith Fair
At lunchtime, our Interfaith Fair brought together students and staff to explore beliefs and practices from a variety of faith and non-faith backgrounds. It was a fantastic opportunity for open dialogue and shared learning.
The day gave students a chance to deepen their understanding of how people arrive at their beliefs and practices and how these can coexist in our diverse world.
💬 We were incredibly proud of the thoughtful questions, meaningful reflections, and enthusiasm shown by our students. We’re already excited to build on this success and make next year’s Interfaith Day even bigger and better!
